Meet the Makers of Find Makers

Gabriel Abrego

Co-Founder, Maker Relations & Trade Market

Gabriel Abrego

Gabriel Abrego is a carpenter first. Before he ever thought about building a platform, he was in the shop, measuring twice, cutting once, and learning what it takes to turn raw material into something people live with every day. That hands-on foundation is the lens he brings to everything at Find Makers.

At Abrego, Gabriel built a reputation for craftsmanship. Working directly with Designers, homeowners, and fellow tradespeople, he saw both sides of the industry: the skill and care that go into custom work, and how hard it can be for talented Makers to get in front of the right clients.

That experience is the reason Gabriel oversees Maker profiles at Find Makers. He knows what a Designer needs to see before trusting someone with a project, and he knows what makes a Maker talented in their craft. He works one-on-one with Makers to build profiles that represent their work honestly and clearly: the materials they love, the techniques they have mastered, and the kinds of projects where they do their best work.

Gabriel is also leading the effort to build a true US Maker market, a network of skilled Makers across the country who can be found, trusted, and hired by Designers no matter where a project is located. For him, this is personal. Every Maker he connects with is someone who has put years into their craft, and he treats those relationships the way he would treat a client at Abrego: with respect, straight talk, and follow-through.

When Gabriel reaches out to a Maker, it is one tradesperson talking to another. He understands the long hours, the tight margins, and the pride that comes with delivering a piece exactly right. His goal is simple: give American Makers a place where their work speaks for itself and the right projects find their way to them.

When he is not connecting with Makers, you can still find Gabriel where he started: at the bench, building.

Joe Westa

Co-Founder, Platform & Growth

Joe Westa

Joe Westa is the builder behind the Find Makers platform. With a lifetime of experience in design and creative endeavors, Joe brings the vision and structure that turned an idea into Find Makers. As a licensed carpenter and business owner himself, Joe truly knows firsthand what it takes to build something from the ground up: the long days, the uncertainty of making ends meet, and the constant effort to earn trust, one customer at a time. That experience gives him total respect for the craftspeople who join Find Makers. Their businesses are built on relationships, reputation, and a lot of hard work, sweat, and tears, and he designed the platform to support exactly those people.

Joe started Find Makers with one clear goal: create a simple, user-friendly platform where Makers and Designers can find each other without the friction. He handcrafted every part of it, from how a Maker builds their profile to how a Designer searches, compares, and communicates with Makers. His focus is on making the platform so intuitive and easy to use that the work, and more importantly the people behind it, take center stage. A place where real relationships are formed and a community of like-minded individuals is established, working together to elevate design and craft and to provide quality, Maker made pieces that last a lifetime.

One of Joe's most valuable contributions is his ability to think outside the box. He's not afraid to ask questions that sometimes get overlooked: How would a Maker in a small town get discovered by a Designer three states away? What would make a busy craftsperson actually want to use a platform? How do we reach Makers who have never marketed themselves online? His answers have helped shape how Find Makers reaches and supports Makers across the country, while providing a solid platform for Designers and their clientele.

Joe shares a vision with Gabriel and Bergen: a nationwide community where skilled work gets the recognition it deserves, where Designers can find the right Maker with confidence, and where Makers just like them are supported and thrive. The goal is to grow Find Makers into a hub for high quality craftsmanship by supporting the trades through the platform and continuing to add resources and content that encourage the next generation of tradespeople.

Bergen Wood

Co-Founder, Design & Client Relations

Bergen Wood

Bergen Wood is a designer who believes great projects are built on great relationships. Through her work at Abrego, she has partnered with hundreds of interior designers, architects, and procurement companies across the United States, and those relationships are the heart of what she brings to Find Makers.

At Abrego, Bergen became the person Designers called first. She understood their vision, spoke their language, and knew how to translate a sketch, a mood board, or a client's wish list into something a craftsperson could build. She guided projects from first conversation to final install, and she made sure every Designer felt heard, informed, and confident along the way. That level of care is why so many Designers kept coming back, and why many now consider her a trusted partner rather than just a vendor contact.

Bergen also saw a recurring challenge. Designers are constantly searching for skilled Makers they can rely on: someone who can hit a deadline, respect a budget, and deliver work that lives up to the design. Too often, finding that person comes down to word of mouth and luck. Find Makers is her answer to that problem.

At Find Makers, Bergen leads the Designer experience. She is bringing the same hands-on, personal customer service that defined her work at Abrego to every Designer who uses the platform. Whether a Designer is sourcing a one-of-a-kind dining table, custom millwork for a residential project, or a reliable Maker for a commercial build, Bergen wants the process to feel easy, transparent, and supported from start to finish.

Because she has worked on both the design side and alongside the shop, Bergen knows what makes a designer-maker partnership succeed. Clear communication, honest timelines, and mutual respect for each other's expertise are what turn a single project into a lasting working relationship. She is committed to building that kind of trust into every connection made through Find Makers.

For Bergen, Find Makers is a chance to take the relationships she has spent years building and open them up to a nationwide community of Designers and Makers who share the same love for thoughtful, well-made work.
