Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Find Makers (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use findmakers.co and our related services (the “Platform”).

By using the Platform, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, password, and the role you signed up as (designer or maker).

Designer verification. Designers submit a copy of a resale certificate or similar trade-verification document. We store this as part of your account record.

Maker application. Makers submit business details, work samples, photos, contact information, and other materials we may request.

Profile information. As you build your profile, we collect studio details, location, work samples, photos, and other materials you choose to add.

Project information. As you use the Platform, we collect the briefs, quotes, project communications, file uploads, and payment records associated with your account.

Payment information. We use Stripe to process payments. We do not store credit card numbers or bank account details on Find Makers' servers — that information goes directly to Stripe. We do store transaction metadata: amount, status, timestamps, and Stripe's internal IDs.

Communications. Emails you send to hello@findmakers.co or other Find Makers addresses, and messages you send through the Platform, are stored as part of our records.

Technical information. We collect basic technical information when you visit the Platform, including IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited. This is standard logging used to keep the Platform secure and working.

2. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the Platform
  • Verify designer trade-professional status
  • Review maker applications
  • Process payments and payouts
  • Communicate with you about your account, projects, and the Platform
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmations, quote and payment receipts, etc.)
  • Send marketing emails if you've opted in
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Who we share information with

We share information with third-party service providers who help us operate the Platform. Each receives only what's needed to do their job:

  • Stripe— payment processing, payouts, and subscription billing (stripe.com/privacy)
  • Supabase— database and authentication infrastructure
  • Resend— transactional and notification emails
  • Vercel— hosting and deployment

We may share information with law enforcement or other authorities when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of users or the public.

If Find Makers is acquired or merges with another business, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We'll notify users by email and on the Platform if this happens.

4. Public profile information

Maker profiles — including studio name, location (city/state), work samples, and photos — are visible to approved designers using the Platform. Approved makers can be browsed in the public directory on findmakers.co.

Designer information is not made public; designers are visible only to makers they've engaged with on a specific brief or project.

5. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some Platform features may not work properly without them.

We do not currently use third-party advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies.

6. Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (database-level encryption through Supabase). Payment information is handled directly by Stripe under their PCI-DSS-compliant infrastructure.

No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach that affects your information, we will notify you promptly and in accordance with applicable law.

7. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period after closure to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Transaction records are retained for at least seven years for tax and accounting purposes.

8. Your rights

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to know what personal information we collect about you and how we use it
  • Right to delete personal information we hold about you, subject to certain exceptions (we may need to retain some information to complete transactions, comply with legal obligations, or detect fraud)
  • Right to opt out of the sale of personal information (note: we do not sell personal information)
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA rights

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@findmakers.co with the details of your request. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request.

If you are located outside California, you may have similar rights under your local laws. The same email address is the right place to contact us.

9. Children's privacy

The Platform is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a minor, we will delete it.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or by a notice on the Platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this Policy shows when it was last revised.
