Find Makers

FAQ for Makers

Why is Find Makers right for me?+

Find Makers is a vetted library of USA-based makers that gives designers, architects and purchasers better access to your work. You can easily send out quotes and invoices, message with clients, ship out product, update your profile and build out your schedule.

What is required to be featured as a Maker?+

Submit your profile via the 'Become a Maker' application. You'll need to submit high-quality photos of your work, lead times, business location, specialties and a valid business license through your local city or jurisdiction. General liability insurance is encouraged but not required. If you are installing work, check with your city to make sure you have the appropriate contractor's licenses needed.

How are makers selected?+

Each maker goes through an interview process that allows us to get to know you, view your work, understand your business goals and see if you're a good fit for Find Makers. Doesn't matter if you're new to the industry or have been around for a while.

How can I ship my work?+

If you need assistance shipping out product, you'll need to sign up for a premium account. We'll give you more info on how to wrap your pieces for shipment and our shipment team will reach out to help you coordinate pick up and delivery. The cost of shipping will be sent directly to your client. All you have to do is make sure your pieces are ready to go!

What licenses, certifications or requirements are required?+

Check with your local jurisdiction. If you need a local city license, contractor's license or certification, make sure you reach out to your city/county/state to ensure you're compliant.

What terms can I put in my quotes?+

Your quote is a contract between you and your client, and the terms are yours to write. Every quote includes a terms section — Find Makers starts you off with a default template you can keep, edit, or replace entirely with your own. If you already have contract terms you use in your business, use those. As examples, many makers include terms like: 'Changes requested more than 24 hours after quote acceptance may incur additional charges,' and 'Drawings and/or samples will be sent for your approval before production begins.' These are suggestions and best practices, not Find Makers requirements — copy them, adapt them, or write your own. Because your quote forms a binding agreement with your client, we recommend having your own contract language reviewed by a legal professional to make sure it protects you and your business. Anything you put in a quote is an agreement between you and your client.
